5 October
The dogs are starting to get in really good shape. We train 2 main
teams. Stina have 14 dogs and Matti run 16 dogs. Together we run the
yearlings in an 8 dog team. The adults runs up to 24 km and the
yearlings will now go up to 7 km. It's cold and good temperatures even
during the days. The "R" litter are totally crazy.
August 2008
Some puppies of the S-litter has now moved from our kennel. 3 of them (Sanoj,
Singla, Silke) are staying here and 3 moved to Volker and Jasmin, Selma
moved back to Neiman's Lisas breeder Fredrik Neiman and Speedy joined an
Alaskan Husky kennel here in Jokkmokk Juha and Karin Smolander.
Summer 2008
We have built and built at our kennel. The kennel starting to look
fantastic but it's so much to do.
Flippa and Issa, our two Border collies are herding our 4 sheeps. It's
our new hobby! The huskies are following our work with big eyes.
Sometimes we take a trip to Piteå to Flippas kennel for training
with Karin Wiksten. She give us some tips and we go home and practice
with our 4 attack sheep's.
May 2008
Neiman's Lisa gave birth to the S-litter.8 puppies. The father is
Working Husky's Pelle.
March 2008
We had to put Working Husky's Cissi to sleep. Here ankle was injured
since her pregnant period. She was 9 year old and still going strong,
and a good leader.
February 2008
Working Husky's Cissi gave birth to 7 wild puppies, the "R" litter.
Fugithive's Cruger is the father. All of them are coloured like wolfs.
They have lot's of energy and lot's of will!
Volker and Jasmin took care of them during our high season when we
stayed away up in the mountains.
20 July
The puppies are growing and growing and we can se how they change from
one day to another.
They have all got names now. It has been hard because we have now
reached the Q-litter.
The puppies names are; Qurt, Qarla, Quest, Qela, Qwanja and Qaja. Qwanja
and Qaja are going to live with our neighbours and friends Jasmin &
Volker Husman. See pictures>>>

22 June
We have got a new roommate! Matti has for several years been dreaming
about a Border Collie and after that our beloved Geisha died we decided
to let the dream come true. Flippa is now here and Matti spend a lot of
time with her and reading about herding.
Thank you Karin at Jowiks
Kennel!

Beginning of May
The snow is still okay in the mountains but we have to much to do at our
office. Paper, computers, taking care of equipment etc.
Freja and Stalo
is in love and we are waiting for new working huskies.

28 April
After another winter season with the dogs and several nice guests we and
the dogs are back in Jokkmokk.
18 April
Geisha is not with us anymore. Her heart was suddenly very weak and the
vet had to put her to sleep. She was my (Matti's) only Alaskan Husky but
she behaved more like a border collie. She has followed me almost every were since
the spring 1997.

18 March
Fugitive's Freddy Cruger (called Cruger) has moved to us. It's a long story about
why... We bought Jason, the brother of Cruger, from Jenki in December
2006. After that Cruger started to miss his brother so much that he almost
stopped eating. Jenki called to us and asked if we wanted to give him a
chance. Some days later Cruger, or what was left of him entered
our kennel. He started to digg in to the food already the first day in
Jokkmokk! After that he has been in my (Matti's) team rest of the season and I
have to say: Thank you Jenki!!! He's a lovely dog! Today Cruger live
together with his brother Jason. They really love each other!

10 March
Finnmarkslopet 2007. I (Matti) started with 8 very strong dogs. It was not good
Siberian temperature. After 370 km I decided to scratch. I had still all 8
dogs in my team and they worked but only because I asked them to. If
my dogs don't show me that they are happy then it's not fun for me
either so I
decided to scratch. I will write the story and my conclusions about the
race later.
29 January - 4 February
Jokkmokk Wintermarket. Approx 3500 persons live in the village Jokkmokk.
During this weekend around 40'000 persons visit the village! We work 24
hours a day with preparing trails, making different tours for our guests
(tourists), coordinate activities for different groups like snowmobile
tours, dog sledging, snowshoeing, moose safari, wilderness dinner etc.
24 January
We have got a new member in our kennel! Stareek's Jocke.
Jocke is a nice and very calm puppy that we bought from Eva Ekman in
Ockelbo. We hope he will be a great working dog and during this winter
he will follow on the tours in Stina's sled.

13-14 January
Tobacco trail in Kiruna. It's a race from "older days" that have arise
anew after some years without activity. The distance is 77km x 2 days. We started
in Kiruna and ran to Soppero. Her we stayed over night. Stina
started with 8 dogs in the limited class. After 2 days she finish her
first race in her life at 3rd place. 14,1km/h (154km) as average speed.
I (Matti) started with 12 dogs in open class and finish as no 7.
16,2km/h (154km) was the average sped for my team. We are satisfied with
our dogs and the training they have until now.
7 January
We have had a lot of work during the last two weeks. Everything from
shorter tours with bigger groups till day tours with ice fishing and
overnight tours in the wild. The dogs are really motivated to work and
the tours with clients is not hard enough for the dogs. But it's good
with variations both for the dogs and for us. We have met lot's of nice
people and we hope that the season will go on like this.
4 January
Fugitive's Jason moved in to our life. We bought him from Jenki
Lindgren, from the same kennel as Cicci and Erotica. Stina went out on
the first tour with him and she was really satisfied! He was calm and
very focused and hard working.
30 December
Olga and Vera have made there first trip in front of the sled. 1 km and
they was excellent. Kokko (Team Amarox Kodi) is going to train together
with them because she is not working very well, but hopefully she will
mature and start to work better. So from today she will run in the
youngsters team. Olga and Vera will not make longer trips than 5-10 km
during January.
18 December
Today -20°C. The dog's are in a good condition and we can't notice that
we were out on the "long run" the other day. The day after I (Matti) had
to sleep almost the whole day but the dog's were just waiting for next
adventure...
Our first race will be in Kiruna 13-14 January. It's "only" 2x76km and
I think the top team will run much faster than our long distance speed.
We will go there to meet other musher's and let our dogs get used to the
competition situation.
16 November
During the weekend we made a longer training tour together with Lars and
Nina. Lars is out on a longer expedition and we meet him at his camp.
With four teams we made around 125 km along a soft trail. We spend 18
hour outdoor including the dinner. It's not fast but the dogs worked
very well. They finished in almost the same speed as they started.

pictures and follow Lars Monsen on his expedition >>>
My competition team have today more than 2000 km since August. Stina who
run the B-team have around 1500 km. But her dogs are not much slower
than my team.
28 November
Today I have signed up to Finnmarksløpet in Norway. I will run the
"short" distance at 500km. Last year me and my team finished as no 9.
But we was also the best Swedish team and the only pure breaded Siberian
Husky team. This year has 3-6 Siberian teams already signed up. I hope
all of them will come to the start in Alta 10 March 2007.
Today I have 15 dogs in training for the competition team. I will choose
the team as late as possible. We have bad snow conditions but it's still
possible to run the team with the sledge. We hope for some more snow.
23 November
To cheer up in this miserable weather with rain and melting snow we will
share some pictures on some of our happy girls and serious guys from a
cold and sunny day.

21 November
We have got a warm period. Fast and hard icy trails. I have been loaded
my sledge with around 100 kg. I have made some tours with up to 14 dogs
in the same team. From today I have to start with maximum 10 dogs until
we have more snow. On some tours during the autumn we have been training
together with other teams. We want the dogs to get used to work side by
side with unknown dogs without stress. We have now more kilometres in
training than last year. The dogs are really strong and have good
endurance. Stina have some older dogs in her team and they are also
really good! We are impressed of them because they have almost the same
speed and endurance as the competition team.

20 November
This is a fantastic story (and true)... We thought that Danne have got
inflammation of the urinary tract. Under his stomach we found some
frozen red (blood) pee. We called the vet and got some
antibiotic. After a while we were really confused because we couldn't
find any blood in his pee. Today I (Matti) turned him upside down again
and checked him... It was paraffin from a outdoor candle. Some days ago
we had some
tourists here and Danne ran over a candle and probably got some
paraffin on his body from that.
Danne is happy again to be back at work!
17 November
Erotica have been to the vet in Luleå. Until now it's a very positive
healing in her leg! Now she will have bandage 10 days more and after 3
weeks we will go back to the vet and check her leg again. Maybe they
want to take the titan out from her leg.
10 November
Doris has quit as a professional sled dog to work at the camping on the
other side of the road together with Volker & Jasmin. She really enjoys
her new life. She spend most of the time in the sofa in front of the
stove together with Sune (a Siberian husky) and a cat. We are very
attached to Doris and it feels good to have found such a great home for
her.
6 November
Nadja gave birth to her last litter. Working Husky Putte and Working
Husky Pelle. She made it very easy and calm. You can follow the puppies
start in life under Puppies at our web.

5 November
Erotica broke her leg. She was running in the team and fall through
a snowmobile bridge. She was silent and calm during the accident. Stina
came with the car and brought her home.
We decided to give her a chance with a very expensive operation. Now
they have fixed the leg with titan and screws. When everything are
finished I think we will have spent around 15-20'000Sek on her leg. We cross
our fingers and hope that she will be okay again. Now she stays inside
the house and she (we) snores in the sofa...

24 October 2006
Today we have a little bit of snow falling. At least the ground is white. That's very
nice for the dog paws. We are still running mostly 30km/ tour but more
often. I have done some very heavy up-hill training. Yesterday Kokko ran
her first time in the youngsters team. We are very satisfied with our five sprint
Siberians from other kennels. We hope that at least one of them will be
good enough for use in breeding with our blood lines in the future.

14 October, 2006
I (Matti) arrived from a trip down to middle of Sweden, Jämtland. I
have made a short visit to my parents and grand mother. I bought two
excellent dogs, Cicci and Erotica, from Fugitives kennel. We have
already make two tours with them and they are calm and work quite good.
They behave as our own dogs: run free without escape,
sit in our sofa and look at TV and work in front of the quad etc. We are
also running Fenris and Ragna and they are very nice and promising working dogs. Kokko is
little bit more careful so she is still training to walk in a line. The adult dogs are mostly
running 30km/tour.

29 Sept, 2006
When we wake up 28 sept, we couldn't believe our eyes. It was totally
white! I was very sorry because the dogs really need a day of. It's very
important to run them as much as possible when we have the soft snow.
It's good for there paws. Today Stina run her team 30km and I run my
team 13km in the morning and 30km in the afternoon. I think it will be
two new tours tomorrow and then rest Sunday and Monday. I think the snow
will disappear during the weekend.
We can now see
that we have some problems with Doris and Iris. Doris is to slow and our
training program is too hard for her. She will maybe become a pet dog.

20
Sept, 2006
The training is running very well. It's little bit to warm but it will
be better and better for each day. Now we are doing 20-24km/tour with
each team. The dogs are very calm and when we meet people with dogs our
teams never look at them, they just pass bye.
28 Aug,
2006
The
autumn training with the dogs has started!
We go
early in the mornings when the temperature is low so the dogs don’t get
overheated.
Now
in the beginning of the season we work hard with the dogs to be calm and
quite when we start.
